Professor Dr. Samir Helal is from Egypt, and as the founder of the IBCT MENA division, he is an honorary member. Dr. Samir is a professor of accounting and Information Systems. He had his Bs. In Commerce and Masters’s degree in Accounting from Cairo University, then he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983. He worked as a teaching assistant and then a visiting professor of accounting at the University of Illinois before going back to Egypt. He obtained a grant from The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in the USA for his work on his Ph.D. Dr. Samir taught several financial and managerial accounting courses as well as business information systems at Tanta University, Egypt, and The American University in Cairo.
